ABOUT THE COALITION
The Homecoming Coalition exists to unify the UK Community through programmatic efforts, bringing forward a celebration of tradition spirit and University values.
Homecoming is one of the most celebrated traditions in our collegiate landscape. It is a time when students, alumni and community gather and UK pride spreads throughout our campus. However, even this great tradition could use some reinvention. After years of multiple campus entities planning Homecoming festivities campus leaders wanted change. It was through that spark of change that the UK Homecoming Coalition was formed. In 2010, student representatives from a few organizations on campus came together to being the process of planning a cohesive Homecoming. Now in 2013, the Coalition has 7 members some of whom include the Black Student Union and the Student Activities Board. They work together to plan a cohesive and all-inclusive Homecoming each year and put on events such as the Dance Blue 5K and the annual Homecoming Parade.
